Announcing three outdoor arts commissions with OffSite! As part of artist development programme OffSite led by Deda Derby, we are pleased to announce three wonderful new pieces of outdoor work that Appetite, alongside Deda, SO Festival, Birmingham Hippodrome and Derby Feste will be supporting with funding.

OffSite’s Outdoor Arts Seed Funding aims to support artists and companies working in dance, circus or physical theatre with funding to support research, development and creation of new outdoor works.

Find out more about the three commissioned companies and artists below. We can't wait to see how their work develops over the coming year.

Fantabulosa presented by Tickertape Parade

Fantabulosa is a pop-up grotto with a range of children’s activities created by leading drag artists to showcase the imagination and inclusivity of drag culture. Join us for storytime sessions, lipsync tutorials and drag make-up and dress-up sessions.
Activities are all child-friendly, but at Fantabulosa everyone is welcome!
There Be Monsters! presented by The Fabularium

Join the cranky but noble knight Don Quixote and his long suffering, fortune seeking side-kick Sancho Panza on their epic quest to revive chivalry, confront monsters and seek to right what is wrong or accidentally wrong what is right.

'There be Monsters' is the brand spanking new outdoor heroic romp around from acclaimed outdoor performers The Fabularium.

Rodadoras presented by Becky Namgauds
Three figures emerge from a bed of soil, rolling, falling and slamming into the earth. Fully immersed in their surroundings, their hair tossed and flailing, the performers are morphed into otherworldly creatures.

Rodadoras considers ideas of femicide, women left and lost in rivers and wastelands, through contemporary dance and Capoeira, bringing the female form and the earth together.
Rodadoras is also supported by Arts Council England, DanceXchange, East London Dance and Hofesh Shechter.

OffSite has been established to develop further opportunities for outdoor artists based in the Midlands. You can find out more about the OffSite programme here.
